About Thomas Fabinski

This photo of the legendary accordionist Charles Magnante presenting Thomas Fabinski a trophy was taken in 1960 to commemorate the youth's accomplishment of being named the second-best nine-year-old accordionist in the state of Michigan. (According to Mr. Fabinski, this was his second-highest musical accomplishment.)

Since then Mr. Fabinski has played in dance bands with Motown, Polka and Big Band influences. Recently, he has done some Midi sequencing of accordion transcriptions. Today, he continues to be an avid accordion enthusiast with a sizable collection of accordion sheet music. He said, "My musical experience has taught me to appreciate the talent and training that goes into making a fine performer."

Despite his love for music, his muse currently seeks its primary expression in Art. In 1976 he received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University.

Although Mr. Fabinski's penultimate musical accomplishment was receiving the above-mentioned award from Charles Magnante, he wrote, "my highest musical accomplishment was more indirect: enrolling my daughter Victoria in the Peabody Conservatory of Music to study Percussion and Music Education."

Mr. Fabinski serves The Classical Free-Reed, Inc. as editor and director of The Free-Reed Review. He can be contacted at tfabinski@hotmail.com
