Doktorski presents a lecture/recital on the life and music of two great pioneers of the piano-accordion: Guido Deiro (1886-1950) and his brother Pietro (1888-1954), consisting of their greatest hits: waltzes, marches, rags, overtures, polkas and tangos interspersed with entertaining and educational stories about the brothers' exciting and glamorous lives: their boyhood in Italy, running away from home, emigrating to America, achieving stardom in vaudeville, and Guido's four marriages (including his passionate and turbulent marriage to Mae West).Doktorski's presentation is truly a crowd-pleaser, not only for concert venues but also for lecture series. To date he has presented this program to appreciative audiences in Grove City, Pennsylvania (February 2009); Ames, Iowa (November 2008); Superior, Wisconsin (September 2007 & April 2005); Washington D.C. (August 2007); Indianapolis, Indiana (March 2007); Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (March 2007); Wilmington, Delaware (September 2006); Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (March 2006); Orlando, Florida (January 2006 & November 2004); Chicago, Illinois (September 2005); Fairbanks, Alaska (July 2005); Milwaukee, Wisconsin (July 2004); Dallas, Texas (March 2004); San Francisco, San Jose, Petaluma & Modesto, California (July 2002); City University of New York, New York City (March 2001).
