January 23, 2010: Henry Doktorski performed a solo recital at the Bluff Park United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. His program consisted of works by Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert, Astor Piazzolla, Vittorio Monti, Richard Rodgers and Guido and Pietro Deiro.
Doktorski also conducted the Alabama Accordionists' Association Festival Orchestra in two numbers: Amparita Roca (Spanish March) and Suite from Fiddler On The Roof, both arranged by Dr. James Wadowick. Also featured on the program was the Alabama Accordionists' Assocation Quartet.
Dr. James Wadowick, Associate Professor Emeritus of Music at Troy University in Troy, Alabama, and President and Founder of the Alabama Accordionists' Association, said, "Once a year the Alabama Accordionists' Association sponsors a grand recital by a world-renowned accordionist. In the past we have sponsored such great classical and jazz artists as Friedrich Lips, Peter Soave, Frank Marocco, Lidia Kaminska, Betty Jo Simon, Stas Venglevski, John Simkus and Tony Lovello. This year we were thrilled to have Henry Doktorski perform a solo recital for us, and rehearse and conduct our accordion orchestra."
