Although it may not seem obvious when you first meet him, Hank is actually an artist. The American lawyer, Louis Nizer (1902-1994), claimed, “A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.”

A painter creates a work of art by brushing paint onto a canvas, a sculptor creates a work of art by carving a block of wood or stone with a hammer and chisel, and Hank creates a work of art by planting seeds in the soil, weeding and tending the sprouts.

His creativity is obvious in the beauty of his gardens. Every year his creation is different from the previous year’s work. Truly Hank’s garden is one of his great accomplishments.
