Hank and Terri Doktorski: Progeny
Hank and Terri raised four children:
Henry III, born January 30, 1956
Cynthia Louise, born July 17, 1957
John, born January 7, 1959
Eileen Marie, born July 11, 1961
Henry III is a professional musician and teacher. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree (1978) from Park College in Kansas City, Missouri and a Master of Music degree (1997) from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He said, “I am deeply indebted to my parents, who, although they guided me when I was young, did not force their opinions on me and consequently allowed me to make my own decisions about my life. My mom always told me, ‘Don’t worry about getting a job that makes lots of money, pick a career which you enjoy doing! That way you’ll always be happy. If you work only for the paycheck, you cheat yourself and you cheat your employer.’ Mom is a very spiritual person and I like to think some of that might have rubbed off on me. From my dad I learned the value of hard work and excellence. He always expected the best from me and I always tried my best to give it to him. Really, I owe practically everything to the training my parents gave me.”
Cynthia Louise received a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature and writing from Columbia University, School of General Studies in New York City; she also studied the sciences at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Cindy works for the National Park Service and is presently stationed at Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. She had previously worked at New River Gorge National Park and Harper’s Ferry National Park in West Virginia, as well as the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Virginia. Cindy is a specialist in the National Park’s Education Outreach Program and she often presents lectures and demonstrations to children and adults. She credits her father with instilling in her an appreciation for the natural beauty of God’s wilderness and the native wildlife which inhabits such areas. Here she is pictured with one of her puppets which she uses to teach children the importance of wildlife conservation, a decidedly difficult task in parts of the country where the usual philosophy toward wildlife is, “If it moves, shoot it.”
John received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Physical Education from Trenton State College in Trenton, New Jersey. He has worked as a physical education teacher at Tampa Christian Academy in Tampa, Florida, and Vail Dean School in Mountainside, New Jersey. He has also worked as an athletic director at Whitehaven Methodist Day School in Memphis, Tennessee, and as a physical therapist assistant at Middlesex General Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. John presently works as a physical education and health instructor at the Midland School in North Branch, New Jersey. John, like his parents, is a religious person, and is a member of Calvary Chapel of Old Bridge, New Jersey. He is married to Betsy Dill and has three stepdaughters, Arden, Lynn and Amy. John is also a devotee of physical fitness, as can be ascertained from this 1989 photograph of him rock climbing in the Shawanagunk Mountains of New York State.
Eileen Marie received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Parsons School of Design in New York City, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from the Yale School of Art in New Haven, Connecticut. Her awards include grants from The National Endowment for the Arts, The Kosciuszko Foundation, The Arts Council of Greater New Haven, and a Fulbright Fellowship to the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland. She has been a member of the board of directors of ARTSPACE, a center for the visual, literary and performing arts in Connecticut and is a Commissioner of Cultural Affairs for the City of New Haven. She has been cited in articles in The New York Times, Art New England, and The New York Art Review. Eileen is a former faculty member of Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut and the Norwalk Community Technical College in Norwalk, Connecticut; she presently teaches at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. Her work has been exhibited in numerous group shows and eleven solo exhibitions internationally.
Hank and Terri have several grandchildren: Sunita Doktorski (b. June 16, 1988) and John Henry Siddhartha Doktorski (b.
